Pick your Colorado outdoor adventure: backcountry skiing, hiking, camping, mountain biking, fishing, hunting or just a relaxing setting for viewing wildlife and spectacular mountain scenery - the yurts offer something for everyone!
The yurts are
remote, secluded backcountry huts located in the Colorado State
Forest State Park, in the northern Colorado Rocky Mountains. The yurts offer a
seemingly endless system of old roads and trails for skiing, hiking and mountain
biking of all skill levels. Telemark the bowls, bike mountain passes and fish
the mountain streams. Each yurt is set up with beds, woodstove and basic cooking
facilities. They are the ultimate backcountry experience. So private and far
removed from the hustle and bustle of traditional campgrounds, yet a warm
inviting shelter for your hiking, skiing or mountain biking adventure. Each
yurt is set off by itself, high in the mountains of the Colorado State Forest
State Park. Concessionaires are licensed to do business in the State Park, by
the Colorado Division of Outdoor Recreation. Views of nearby peaks are
unsurpassed any time of the year. The Medicine Bow Range and the Never Summer
Range form a 12,000 foot backdrop to a seemingly unlimited trail system that
links old logging roads, 4 wheel drive trails and hiking trails. Whether you
ski, snowshoe, hike or bike to the yurts, prepare yourself to see birds and
wildlife of all kinds – moose, elk, deer, red tail hawk, coyote, fox and so much
more.
Most yurts and cabins are equipped with wood burning stoves and firewood, propane cook stoves, bunk beds with mattresses & pillows (no bedding), pots, pans, utensils, table and chairs.
No dogs or campfires are allowed.
