MISHAWAKA
Walter Thompson homesteaded the Mishawaka site in 1916. To produce income
on the property, he built 6 rental cabins, a rustic store and dance hall. He
named his resort “Mishawaka” after a favorite Indiana town. As the property
changed ownership through the years, the rental cabins were no longer used and
the venue has changed.
Mishawaka’s main attraction
today is music group concerts staged in an outdoor amphitheater that replaced
the old Thompson apple orchard. The setting is right on The Cache La Poudre and
will be an event to place in your memory book for future enjoyment. Today people
come from all over the country from New York to California to hear Dark Star
Orchestra, The Hot Buttered Rum String Band, The Subdudes, The David Grisman
Quintet and many others including local talent. The concerts begin in May and
continue to September.
The restaurant is open for Lunch and Dinner from May to September.
Mishawaka is located 18 miles
down the Cache La Poudre River from Archer’s Poudre River Resort.
