POUDRE CANYON ROCK CLIMBING

The Poudre Canyon lies up Highway 14, just north of Fort Collins.  The Canyon Rock is made up of Granite, Gneiss, and Shiest which results in a wide range of rock quality.  Roadside lines are mostly sport or mixed routes, but there are some quality trade lines as well.  Grey Rock offers some great climbs on solid granite with a true summit, great views and a typical quiet setting.  Many/most of the lines up the canyon and at Grey Rock were developed by Craig Luebben.

Other climbing opportunities are:

Arthur's Rock

Greyrock Mountain photo_id=42191

Grey Rock Summit shot looking North. You can see into Wyoming from up here.

Big Elk Meadows

Big Thompson Canyon

Horsetooth Reservoir

Longs Peak

Lumpy Ridge

McGregor Slab

Moraine Park

Never Summer Range

Poudre – 420 Boulders

Bouldering Areas at Kinikinik

Prospect Mountain

Archer’s Poudre River Resort is located 33 miles up the canyon from Ted’s Place and is a great place to get food and lodging.  Archer Poudre River Resort is open all year round.  Camping sites and limited RV sites with Full Hook up available.  If you go up higher up the canyon towards Cameron Pass more primitive camping opportunities can be found but is farther away from the boulders.

Experience the Fun of Climbing in a Safe Environment

The Inner Strength Rock Gym and Outdoor Adventures is uniquely situated in the heart of Northern Colorado's best outdoor climbing. The owners, employees, and members offer a wealth of enthusiasm, real-world experience, and true enjoyment of a sport that for many becomes a way of life.

With access to Horse tooth Reservoir, Rotary Park, Poudre Canyon, Carter Lake, Thompson Canyon, Rocky Mountain National Park, Eldorado Canyon, Veda woo, Boulder Canyon and the Flat Irons within just an hour drive--few climbing gyms in the United States offer a better balance of outdoor experience with indoor enjoyment.

At Inner Strength, you will find that owners, Mike and Tracy, their two children, and many of the employees are active climbers, leading outdoor adventures and placing routes in the gym. It is not uncommon to find, late evening, those who climbed outdoors most of the day and stopped-in to unwind, share stories, and try new moves.

Inner Strength enjoys a diverse membership of families, couples, and individuals of all ages, body types, and climbing experience--those new to climbing as well as some of the Nation's prominent young climbers with consistent placement in the top five of their age category. Always encouraging, always welcoming, embracing first-timers and experienced visitors alike with friendly 'beta'.

If you live in the area and have wanted to try climbing, there is no better place to start. If you are just driving through, make time to climb. And if you are an experienced climber looking for complimentary challenge to your outdoor excursions, Inner Strength welcomes you.
